Ivy Brown

NOW-NJ VP Affirmative Action

I am 47 years old and a care giver to my sister Shelby who is disabled. I attended the University of Alabama and majored in communications. I am a founding member of Women of Color and Allies Essex County Chapter and the NOW- NJ Combating Racism Task Force since 1999. And, I have hosted several meetings in my home in Newark, NJ. I have participated in actions against the present administration's treatment of the victims of Hurricane Katrina and attended court hearings for victims of police brutality.

In addition, I have also taken in a foster child for almost five years and supported the efforts of drug abusers to overcome their addictions one day at a time. I lead in being supportive.
