WOMEN OF COLOR AND ALLIES (WOCA)
ESSEX COUNTY CHAPTER
And
NOW - NJ Combating Racism Task Force
VISION STATEMENT
“Women of Color and
Allies “ (WOCA) is a multi-racial, multicultural chapter of the
National Organization for Women based in Essex County, NJ, and
open to both men and women.
As a chapter, we are committed to the struggle to achieve
political, social and economic equality for all women,
regardless of race, class, religious nationality or sexual
orientation.,
We fight to remove barriers in housing, employment, education,
health care and reproductive choice; and encourage the
development of increased socioeconomic opportunities to enable
women around the world to reach their full potential as human
beings.
We actively condemn racist and sexist welfare/workfare
legislation, police brutality, and sweatshop labor at home and
abroad with the clear understanding that the struggle for
women’s equality is part and parcel of the larger struggle
against racism and economic inequality.
This shared vision drives the work of the “Women of Color and
Allies” chapter of NOW-NJ at all organizational levels and we
pledge to all women around the world our unwavering commitment
to ending sexist, racist and economic oppression. We
presently host the meetings for the NOW-NJ Combating Racism Task
Force.
