Passaic County NOW
Welcome to Passaic
County Chapter of the National Organization for Women
About NOW
Since its founding in
1966, NOW’s goal has been to bring about equality for all women.
NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment and to
secure birth control, reproductive and abortion rights for all
women. In addition NOW strives to end violence against
women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and promote
equality and justice in our society.
About Passaic County
NOW
Passaic County NOW is
a grassroots chapter of the country’s largest feminist activist
organization. The group includes members who have been
active in the feminist movement since the 1960s as well as high
school and college students.
Passaic County NOW
shares the national organization’s goals while taking action at
the local level. For example, since its inception, the
Chapter founded Passaic County’s first battered women’s shelter.
In addition, members have taken action to end discrimination in
local government, lobbied for women’s health issues, marched on
Washington and rallied for peace. Members are encouraged
to take a leadership role in the specific issues that interest
them.
