Lobby
Day
for
Prescription Equity
NOW-NJ will be
partnering with NARAL and Planned Parenthood to lobby our state
legislature on Monday, December 12, during their lame-duck
session.
Our issue is
"prescription equity" -- that if health insurance or a drug plan
covers ED treatments such as Viagra, it must also cover birth
control. There are already religious exemptions for
obviously religious institutions. Some want to amend this
to exempt religious ownership of large institutions such as
Seton Hall University, where not all the faculty, staff, and
students are Catholic. NOW-NJ opposes any such
amendments, and this is the purpose of the lobbying -- pass the
bill unamended.
On Sunday, December
11, noon to 2:00 pm there will a training in the NOW-NJ state
office, 110 West State Street, Trenton.
Then on Monday,
December 12, our lobbyists will meet at 9:00 am in the state
office, organize, and move into the halls of the Statehouse.
This activity will probably continue all day and into the
evening, as has happened with past lame-duck sessions.
If you are interested
in participating, please contact the state office (information
below), or just show up for the training.
