The March is only a few days away and I have a
few updates for you from the March Office. First, see the announcement
below about the call for volunteers.
Volunteers will be needed for the entire weekend,
April 23-26. If you are in the DC area during that time, you can play a
critical role in the success of our events. Volunteer jobs
include:
Set up of the rally site and
setup, breakdown and staffing of events
on Friday and Saturday Hospitality on the
25th:
ü
Parade
marshalling
ü
Greeting the buses from
out of town
ü
Providing help and
directions to participants
ü
Maintaining a clean and
organized rally site
ü
Staffing of volunteer and
Lost & Found desks
ü
Assisting those who are
physically challenged
ü
Signing in the
crowd
Breakdown of the rally site
No experience is necessary. We will provide
training and support.
Volunteer briefings will be held on Saturday, April
24th at the DC Armory. Please plan to attend one of the
following sessions: 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. While at the Armory, you will be briefed on
available volunteer opportunities and asked to identify the job and shift that
works best for you. Volunteer trainers will then provide you with details
about your role. If you are unable to attend the volunteer briefings on
Saturday, please report to the volunteer tent on the day of the March. The tent
will be located on the National Mall between 4th and 7th
Streets, N.W., directly in front of the National Gallery of Art.

March Kick-Off Event
We are very excited to tell you that
Cris Williamson, famous feminist rock band BETTY and SONiA join Tyne Daly and
Sharon Gless of “Cagney and Lacey”
fame, Camryn Manheim of “The Practice,” Kathy Najimy of “King of the Hill” and
“SisterAct,” Amy Brenneman of “Judging Amy” and a special performance by Cybill
Shepard.
Judy Gorman will
perform a special song written for the March for Women’s Lives. Carol Towner
will sing a surprise song that will delight everyone.
Together with Feminist Majority
president Ellie Smeal, NOW president Kim
Michelman and NARAL Pro-Choice America president Kate
Michelman, a line of public officials and more celebrities will
be on hand to send you of with a blast of support.
In the pre-march celebration, there
will be delicious refreshments and you will have the opportunity to browse many,
many vendor tables and purchase your March t-shirts and buttons, sashes and hats
early. Also on sale will be books
and other miscellaneous items. Literature tables will offer a wide variety of
information.
Tickets are going fast – purchase your
tickets on line – pick up at ‘Will Call” window at the Armory. Avoid waiting in
the sales line.
