A
Performance of
Words
of Choice
"The
performance was fantastic! Keep up the great work."
--Lorie
Spear, Director, Planned Parenthood of Chicago
"Words
of Choice is a thoroughly engrossing compilation on the right to
privacy. The piece grabbed hold of our attention to consider a
right all-too-often take for granted. Words of Choice is a
most powerful tool for reawakening the passion of choice.
--Barbara
Becker, Center for Reproductive Rights
"Rave
reviews."
--Claudia
Luck, Director Of Development, Planned Parenthood
League
of Massachusetts.
These
are just a few of the comments heard after the performance of Words
of Choice, a dynamic theatrical presentation about women’s rights
and reproductive choices that opens a dialogue about this important
issue through theater.

Words
of Choice is a compilation of 12 writings from journalism, theater,
poetry, and oral history. In
these varied stories, a woman compares her life to the ups and downs of
the 30-year-old court decision Roe v. Wade; a father describes
his feelings after his daughter is raped; a teenager tries to remember
the name and phone number of a one-night stand; a woman testifies to
Congress about learning of severe fetal anomalies in a wanted pregnancy;
and a publicist describes the greatest invention in modern contraception
B the morning-after taco.
The
play weaves together comic and dramatic pro-choice stories from
journalism, drama and poetry. Writings
included are by: Justice Harry Blackmun, Angela Bonavoglia, Alix Olson,
Kathy Naijimy, Michael Quinn, Sherica White, The Onion, Judith
Arcana, Kathleen Tolan, Emilie Townes, others.
A one-hour performance, Words of Choice uses an ensemble
of three or four diverse actors (1 man; 2-3 women.)
It is unabashedly pro-choice, capturing the emotion, history and
journey of abortion rights in an engaging and lively manner.
