Discrimination in the Workplace
Topic of Seminar
The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will present a free public seminar on
discrimination in the workplace on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
at the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square (off Ryders Lane) in New
Brunswick.
Two labor law attorneys will provide an overview of employment discrimination
relating to age, gender, race, handicap, whistle blower, pregnancy discrimination,
reduction in the workforce and equal pay for equal work. A question-and-answer
period will follow the attorneys' presentations.
Speakers will include Arnold Cohen, a partner in the Newark law firm of Oxfeld
Cohen, and Jed L. Marcus, a principal with the Roseland law firm of Grotta,
Glassman & Hoffman.
Cohen concentrates his practice in private and public sector labor, employment
and employee benefits law. An adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School-Newark,
Cohen teaches seminars on the topics of labor and employment arbitration and
labor negotiations. He is a former editor-in-chief of the New Jersey State Bar
Association's New Jersey Labor and Employment Law Quarterly and a former
member of the Bar Association's New Jersey Lawyer, The Weekly Newspaper.
Cohen is the first vice chair of the NJSBA Labor and Employment Law Section and is a
founding Master of the Sidney Reitman Employment Law Inn of Court.
He holds degrees from Rutgers Law School-Newark and New York University.
Marcus represents employers throughout the U.S. on all types of employment and
labor relations matters. Regularly counseling employers on discrimination, wrongful
termination, sexual harassment and Title VII compliance, he is a frequent speaker
and panelist at seminars and has authored numerous articles on employment and
labor law. An active member of the NJSBA Labor and Employment Law and
Individual Rights sections, Marcus holds degrees from Rutgers University and the
University of Oklahoma College of Law.
